Hand Surgery and RepairThere's no need to live with hand or wrist pain any longer. The hand and upper extremity specialists at Orlin & Cohen use the latest treatments to relieve pain, restore function and improve the quality of your life. While Walter Rho, M.D. and Bennett Brown, M.D. take a conservative, nonsurgical approach to such common problems as carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis and wrist tendonitis, also known as de Quervain's tenosynovitis, these fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeons also are experienced in microvascular surgery and minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques for hand repair and reconstruction, including joint replacement.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a very common problem that affects the hand and fingers. In this video, Dr. Bennett Brown of Orlin & Cohen's hand and upper extremity division discusses the syndrome's symptoms and how it's treated. In treating carpal tunnel syndrome, which affects the hands and fingers, we begin with a wrist brace and over-the-counter medication. If that doesn't help, we work with our pain management specialists who inject cortisone, a strong anti-inflammatory. The last line of treatment is a carpal tunnel release, an outpatient surgical procedure that usually takes less than 10 minutes and has a relatively fast recovery, allowing the patient to resume daily life in about 10 days. Most patients require follow-up physical therapy as well, which is available through the Orlin & Cohen network of offices.
