Orlin & Cohen expands with after-hours orthopedic care

Injuries such as broken ankles or dislocated shoulders often happen at inconvenient times.

To accommodate people in need of orthopedic care after-hours, Orlin & Cohen Orthopedic Group started offering a walk-in service at its Merrick location during evenings and weekends.

Orlin & Cohen, which says its after-hours service is the first of its kind for an orthopedic practice on Long Island, provides walk-in care Monday through Friday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 1728 Sunrise Highway in Merrick. The group plans to roll the service out to its eight other Long Island locations during the year.

“We saw a need to expand our practice to provide immediate walk-in care for acute injuries suffered in accidents like those on the golf course, the tennis court or in the backyard,” Michael Passet, CEO of Orlin & Cohen, said in a statement. “Typically, a general practitioner or general urgent care doctor will refer to an orthopedist anyway, so this saves the patient time and money.”

The Merrick location includes in-house MRI and digital X-ray services.
