Matthew R. Boylan, M.D., M.P.H., is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic sports medicine surgeon, specializing in conditions of the shoulder. While Dr. Boylan seeks to successfully treat his patients without surgery whenever possible, he can provide expert surgical care including arthroscopic rotator cuff and labral repairs as well as shoulder replacements. Dr. Boylan also cares for injuries and degenerative conditions of the knee and elbow.
Dr. Boylan joined Orlin & Cohen following the completion of his residency in orthopedic surgery at NYU Langone Health and his fellowship in sports medicine, shoulder and elbow surgery at OrthoCarolina. As a former NCAA Division I baseball player, Dr. Boylan can relate to the profound impact that musculoskeletal problems have on a patient’s quality of life. He has cared for athletes at the high school, collegiate and professional levels, including the Carolina Panthers (NFL) and the Charlotte Knights (MiLB). Committed to improving patient outcomes, Dr. Boylan has a Master’s degree in Public Health and has published extensively on quality improvement and risk reduction in orthopedic surgery.
