In November 2024 I took a fall, and had my right shoulder dislocated. In the hospital they performed a reduction. However, I (my right shoulder) did not feel normal: I couldn’t lift my right arm even to horizontal level. I saw one orthopedic doctor (after getting a MRI, which showed extreme tears in my shoulder rotator). The doctor said that my only option is to perform surgery: reverse total shoulder replacement. Obviously, I was not happy, so I went to Dr Lenart Brett at Orlin & Cohen for a second opinion. Dr. Lenart suggested that I try physical therapy first and recommended seeing Leslie Bernstein. After a thorough evaluation by Leslie Bernstein, I started twice a week PT session with Leslie and her staff (sessions started with heating packs on both shoulders and ended with ice packs). Exercises were instructed and monitored by Leslie and her capable staff. Leslie routinely checked the progress in arm movement range. She suggested that I do exercises at home too. And little-by-little, my arm movements came back: I was able to lift my arm to a vertical position. Then Leslie added new exercises intended for getting my strength back. Each 4 weeks I also had a visit with Dr. Lenart. He performed an evaluation, took notes of my progress, until finally he said that “I am good to go!”. I greatly appreciate what Dr. Lenart, Leslie Bernstein and her staff did for me, and I highly recommend them.
