Since I was a little girl, I have loved skiing and look forward to every winter. On January 29th, 2023, it was the last run of the day (of course) and an unfortunate ice patch caused me to take a bad fall and injure my knee. I have always been active and have had a passion for working out, so the athlete in me pushed off discovering I completely tore my ACL until May 2023. I was supposed to run the NYC Marathon that coming November but had to withdraw. I was so distraught but scheduled my ACL reconstruction surgery for August 22nd, 2023. As a teacher, the first few weeks' post-surgery was one of the hardest experiences I have ever gone through. Thankfully, Chris and Shelby were there every step of the way. From day one, they never let me doubt myself and continued to push me every session to get stronger and be better. Physical therapy became one of my favorite parts of my week. 9 months post-surgery on May 18th, 2024, I can proudly say I finished the RBC Brooklyn half marathon with a finish time of 2:18. I never would of thought in 9 short months I would be running in my first half marathon. I owe it all to Dr. Alpert, Chris and Shelby. I am so thankful I was lucky enough to have worked with Chris and Shelby.
