I was having chronic pain that was getting so bad I couldn’t do the things I enjoyed and it was affecting my daily activities. I went to Dr Heimroth for a consultation and after taking xrays and examining me he said I needed a hip replacement and this should get rid of 3 areas of pain for me. I had a lot of questions and he took the time to describe the surgery in detail, the recovery process and expected improvement in my quality of life. I am a nurse so this meant a lot to me. I told him I needed time to think about it and we scheduled a follow up visit in a few months. During that time I went for a second opinion (who agreed), checked with the surgical coordinator to find out a possible date and told my job that I would be out for a while. On my follow up visit I told Dr Heimroth what i had done and said I had some more questions, which he answered in a patient and kind manner. I chose to stay in the hospital overnight and stayed at my sister’s house until I could drive. The post op pain was as he described but I was so pleased that the pain I had before the surgery was gone! I was prescribed pain meds and only took it 3 times in the early post op period and then relied on Tylenol. Dr Heimroth and the office staff were always available to get me answers to any questions that came up along the way. I did home PT and then in office PT near my home. I decided to stop PT because I wanted to return to the gym (with Dr Heimroth’s approval). I have been back at the gym now for almost 2 months. I am working full time with no restrictions. I have resumed bowling in my league. I even planned my next European vacation! I still have work to do but I am very pleased with my progress.
