JULY 15, 2025 I had my 2nd hip replacement; August 2024 I had my 1st. I had been suffering since 2014 after hurting myself. Prior to seeking medical help, I was declining social functions or made my decisions based upon how much walking I had to do. I am a true long islander and cherish summers at the beach. I can tell you in the year of 2023 I don't think I went to the beach more than 3 times. Had I known that hip replacement surgery was so successful I would have done this sooner. I was afraid of the recovery period and being out of work for too long. A friend brought in one of those hospital magazines featuring a woman who had hip replacement by Dr. Fracchia at Mather Hospital. She had the anterior approach done. I took this as a sign and called his office to make an appointment. The x-rays showed that I needed both hips done. You couldn't even see either hip socket on the x-rays. Needless to say, my surgery was scheduled. Dr. Fracchia's office handled all the insurance stuff. I didn't have to deal with any of that nonsense. The day of my surgery came and of course I was a little nervous with having to get anesthesia but upon my arrival at Mather Hospital I was quickly put at ease. Let me tell you about Mather Hospital.... from the second I hobbled in the door, everyone seemed to know my name (like Cheers with no alcohol) and what I was there for. The handoff from the front desk to transport to registration. to presurgical prep, operating room. post-opt, etc., was FLAWLESS! I can't say thank you enough to the people who cared for me. They were professional and knowledgeable but most of all they were genuinely kind and caring. I was so impressed. And on top of that. I went home the same day! I had no pain after surgery and recovery was really a piece of cake. I had such a good experience I went and did it again in July. I thought maybe I just got lucky the first time around like as if the stars had aligned but that wasn't it; it was Dr. Fracchia and his team (I'm sorry I don't know everyone's name) and it was Mather Hospital staff...once again a flawless surgery, home the same day. I am currently doing PT 3x a week and I don't take any pain meds; not even Tylenol. At times it is uncomfortable and sometimes I am sore but nothing compared to how I was existing prior to hip replacement surgery. Thank you Dr. Fracchia and team!
