I fell in February 2022 on my left arm and shattered my ulna resulting in a compound fracture, as well as a fracture of my radius. This injury required surgery and the placement of two titanium plates in my arm. Upon removal of the temporary surgical cast, Dr. Mitgang prescribed that a plastic brace be made for me by Samantha DiMaio in the Lynbrook Occupational Therapy Department and that I should soon begin therapy. Once I met Samantha, I immediately knew that she is a pro who is experienced with my type of injury and has an optimistic, cheerful disposition. During one of the first few therapy sessions, Samantha was concerned about my stiches and asked Dr. Mitgang to check them before we started the therapy session. Samantha is a tough no-nonsense caring therapist who continuously addressed my numerous concerns during the one-year healing process. She challenged me to increase my range of motion as well as increase the weight bearing use of my arm. She gave me the confidence throughout the therapy sessions that I would be fine and able to continue normally in most of my regular daily activities as I did prior to my fall. Samantha is definitely an integral member in the Orlin & Cohen team and contributed greatly to my personal recovery. I am confident that all of her patients have been appreciative her attentive care.
