I had an accident years ago where I was hit by a car resulting in a shoulder injury that eventually became arthritic and the cartilage in the shoulder was lost after visiting HSS and seeing the lead surgeon, he said my only option was shoulder replacement. I told my wife “hell no!”, so I went to my doctor, got a script for physical therapy because I play basketball, softball, volleyball, pickleball, go to the gym multiple times per week, and I’m a retired PE teacher that still digs clams. I was Matt’s baseball and soccer coach, I knew he was a smart, sports oriented kid, so I went to him for physical therapy..my shoulder aches me occasionally, but I’m able to do everything I want, because of the stretching, massages, ice and heat therapy, band and weight work..at 68 I’m very active and it’s only because of Matt’s PT and his ability to read my abilities, range of motion, tolerance, and work ethic, finally , last year in July, while racing with my fire department tournament drill team, while twisting on the truck to attach a hose line, I ruptured one of the tendons in my left foot, my podiatrist recommended surgery, I said “hell no!” went to Matt, made a six month plan to strengthen my foot, work on balance, strength, dorsiflexion, plantar flexes, and am back racing, jogging, playing basketball, softball, clamming, and having occasional aches in my left foot, but no serious pain and with only one of 2 tendons in tact in my foot! I would highly recommend Matt “Iron Thumb” Dobkowski to any athlete or active person that want to recover or avoid surgery and get back to living the gift of life!!
