A car accident in my early 20s left me with a herniated disc in my lower back.

My entire world was turned upside down. I was miserable at work as an early childhood education teacher. I couldn't easily engage with my students – bending down to their level or sitting for extended periods of time was unbearable. And I couldn't pursue my passion as a fitness instructor. It definitely destroyed my quality of life.

I had exhausted every option over the years, including chiropractic care and cortisone shots, and was eventually referred to Dr. Faust at Orlin & Cohen.

I immediately appreciated his calm, confident manner. He took the time to explain everything to me in layman's terms and was very compassionate. The spine is his subspecialty so I knew he was very knowledgeable, which of course, was important to me. After all, deciding to have spinal surgery is a huge decision – but I am so glad I did.

Dr. Faust performed my anterior lumbar interbody fusion (ALIF) surgery in June of 2009. Following a three-month recovery, I returned to moderate activity. At my one-year, post-surgery checkup, Dr. Faust gave me the go-ahead to return to the gym. Soon after that, I went skydiving!

Having my spinal surgery was the best decision I've ever made. I trusted Dr. Faust with my life – and he gave it back to me. I am so grateful to him. He's empowered me to live my life, my way. I can't thank Dr. Faust enough.
