Earlier this year, I severally aggravated a previously injured shoulder while doing yard work. The pain was different and so bad that I quickly lost about 60-75% mobility in my right shoulder and was not able to get restful sleep for over a week. After successfully performing meniscus surgery on my knee in the year prior, I decided to see Dr Gregory Lieberman for my shoulder. After reviewing my x-rays and MRI images, Dr Lieberman offered two options: surgery or a steroid injection to the shoulder to reduce inflammation coupled with PT to strengthen the muscles supporting the shoulder and restore mobility. I opted for the second option and glad I did as my body responded well to the injection and PT, thus avoiding surgery. I started PT treatment with Michele O’Neill and Rob Gadsden at Orlin & Cohen Medical Specialists Group in Lynbrook. Having had a positive experience with them post knee surgery, I again entrusted them to help me get through PT of my right shoulder which is my dominant side. Two sessions per week for several weeks coupled with at-home exercises that they provided, I soon started to see and feel an improvement to a shoulder that I was certain might require surgery. I am pleased to report that almost 2 months after my last PT session with Michele and Rob, my shoulder is much better than prior to the damage I did earlier this year. Surgery which I thought was inevitable is no longer a thought. I continue to do the exercises that Michele provided at my last PT session. Not only did I reverse the damage done earlier this year, but I can again throw a ball or object over my head which is something that had been problematic for many years prior to this incident. From my personal experiences, I highly recommend Dr Gregory Lieberman if orthopedic surgery is required or a consideration and Michele O’Neill and Rob Gadsden for PT both in lieu of and post-surgery.
