My story is not about the surgeons that performed my operations, because they were done at two different locations. This story is about the REHAB program that is situated in the Southampton office of Orlin and Cohen. I have been rehabbing various body parts for about 7 years. My rehab program has been excellent and my therapist has been through it all with me and has been phenomenal. (more about Lia later) As you walk into the Southampton office you are greeted by two charming receptionists, Patty and Heidi. They always have a smile and more than willing to assist in any manner. During the pandemic, they take temperatures and require a quick form to be completed. They always find me an appropriate time later in the day and a time that allows me to work with Lia. The facility is stocked with all the latest machines and tools needed to successfully strengthen the injured body part and most importantly the room is always clean. They sanitize everything after each person uses the equipment and apply all necessary procedures to keep all safe and healthy. The two assistants, are always cleaning, providing equipment to clients and doing anything the therapists ask them to do. Of course all of this is wonderful but the real value in the facility are the therapists. One in particular is Lia Velys. As I said above, I have had her "fine tuning" me for all my assorted operations. She has done several "e-valves" on me and spends at least an hour documenting and asking questions about my present injury. As a therapist, she is the best. She is well educated in the proper rehab procedures and carefully explains what she is doing and how this will help the body to heal. Her knowledge of the human body is amazing. Her rehabbing consists of working on other parts that have direct bearing on the injured part. When it comes to the exercises, she always demonstrates the proper application of the tool or machine and is constantly adding exercises to my routine. There have been many times when Lia is working with another patient and sees me doing something wrong and immediately corrects me. Her temperament to me is amazing. She tells me to take it easy when I get home and I'm always telling her what I did the last two days before my appointment and all she does is look at me in disbelief. " It can't heal if you don't rest it. I can bring a horse to water but I can't make him drink it". I'm presently being treated for a knee and achilles injury. As I enter the facility on each day of my appointments, I know that my total therapy experience will be as good as it gets. It's great to know that if I need an operation or have a problem with any part of my body that I injure, I have a place to go to be treated! Thank you all!
